What is TrackOFF?

TrackOFF is an innovative software solution to protect you from hackers, trackers, and identity thieves online. TrackOFF shields your digital fingerprint from known tracking techniques, regularly clears your browsing history, and encrypts your Internet traffic.

What is your digital fingerprint?

Your digital fingerprint is a combination of data about your web browser and computer. This data is used by marketers and advertisers to uniquely identify you.

How is your digital fingerprint used?

Much like a human fingerprint, you leave a trail of digital fingerprints around the Internet as you move from website to website. Your digital fingerprint is what trackers use to collect personal information about the things you do online.

With all of that information, trackers create a profile about you — your likes and dislikes, religious and political preferences, and even your medical and financial information. Companies may try to sell or share this information for a profit, or give it over to the Government upon request.

How does TrackOFF protect you?

TrackOFF changes your digital fingerprint in real time. TrackOFF randomly injects fake information into the data that make up your digital fingerprint. Effectively, this changes what trackers and third-parties can see about you.

TrackOFF also clears those hard-to-erase tracking cookies away form you browser. With TrackOFF Elite, you can enable VPN for a safe, secure, encrypted browsing experience.

How does TrackOFF detect tracking scripts?

TrackOFF looks for patterns in known tracking scripts operating on websites. (Tracking scripts are kind of like messages that tell websites when to grab your information.) When TrackOFF finds other scripts with similar patterns, it knows the script is trying to track you and sends a real-time alert to the application. A pop-up then appears in your system tray!

Why does TrackOFF use browser extensions?

Certain browsers require the use of an extension for software to be compatible with them. That's why TrackOFF uses extensions with Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera. The extensions on these browsers allow TrackOFF to detect Potential Tracking Attempts.

Browsers like Internet Explorer and Edge do not require you to enable extensions.

What are cookies?

Cookies are files that websites, trackers, and third-parties leave on your browser. These tiny files let them see where you’ve been and what you’ve done online. Targeted ads that follow you around online are a direct result of cookies on your browser. And unlike with your digital fingerprint, it’s much easier to delete cookies and erase your browsing history. Clear your cookies regularly, and the targeted ads will stop!

What’s the difference between cookie-based tracking and digital fingerprint-based tracking?

The two techniques are very similar: third-parties store information about you to use later! But think about it this way: cookies are used for short-term tracking, and your digital fingerprint is used for long-term tracking. Either way they go about it, grabbing your data means big money for ad agencies and corporations.

What is VPN?

A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, hides your IP address and masks your location. VPNs also encrypt your Internet traffic so hackers and your Internet service providers can't see what you’re doing online.

How does TrackOFF calculate your Digital Privacy Score?

Your Privacy Score is determined by the various settings you enable or disable in the TrackOFF application. The fewer privacy protections, the lower your score. You'll know you're well protected when the meter changes from red or yellow to green.
